1. The space and orientation of the machine occupied by the bearing
In mechanical design, the size of the shaft is usually determined first, and then the rolling bearing is selected according to the size of the shaft. Usually, ball bearings are used for small shafts, and roller bearings are used for large shafts. However, when the bearing is limited in the diameter direction of the machine, needle roller bearings, ultra-light and ultra-light series ball or roller bearings are used; when the bearing is limited in the axial direction of the machine, narrow or special Narrow series of ball or roller bearings.
2. The magnitude, direction and nature of the load on the bearing
Load is an important factor in the selection of bearings. Roller bearings are used to accept heavier loads, ball bearings are used to accept lighter or medium loads, and bearings made of carburized steel or bainite quenched can accept shock and vibration loads.
In terms of the direction of action of the load, when accepting pure radial loads, deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings or needle roller bearings can be selected. When accepting a small pure axial load, a thrust ball bearing can be selected; when accepting a large pure axial load, a thrust roller bearing can be selected. When the bearing accepts combined radial and axial loads, angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings are usually selected.
3. The self-aligning function of the bearing
When the center line of the shaft is different from the center line of the bearing seat, there is an angle error, or the rigidity of the shaft is small due to the large distance between the two supports of the shaft, and it is easy to bend or tilt under force, the self-aligning function with good self-aligning function can be selected. Ball or spherical roller bearings, as well as outer ball bearings. This type of bearing can maintain normal operation with the shaft slightly tilted or bent.
The quality of the bearing's self-aligning function is related to its allowable non-axiality. The larger the non-axiality value, the better the self-aligning function.
4. Bearing rigidity
The rigidity of the bearing refers to the magnitude of the force required for the unit deformation of the bearing. The elastic deformation of rolling bearings is very small, which can be ignored in most machines, but in some machines, such as machine tool spindles, bearing rigidity is an important factor, and cylindrical and tapered roller bearings are usually selected. Since these two types of bearings are in point contact with the raceway when they are under load, the rigidity is poor.
In addition, various types of bearings can also be preloaded to achieve the purpose of increasing the support rigidity. Such as angular contact ball bearings and tapered roller bearings, in order to avoid the vibration of the shaft and increase the support rigidity, a certain axial force is often applied in advance during the installation to press them against each other. It is specially pointed out here that the preload should not be too large. If it is too large, the friction of the bearing will increase, the temperature rise will increase, and the service life of the bearing will be affected.
